Frequently asked questions
Can anyone really take up tiling as a profession?
Yes, if you are prepared to work hard and practice. All aspects of the trade are covered and you will receive plenty of hands-on experience during your course.
Are the courses recognised in any way?
Yes. Several official training/learning skills institutions promote our courses.
How big are the classes?
We guarantee an absolute maximum of 10 people with an average of 7 people making our classes the smallest of all our competitors. Participants each have their own work area, their own tools and plenty of space to practise.
Do I need to bring anything with me?
No. We supply all tools etc. Just wear old clothes or overalls and trainers.
Will I get a qualification?
No. The industry qualification is an NVQ which is not possible to gain on a
short course. We do provide Certificates of Merit which past students have successfully used to gain employment. Small portfolios are also presented.
How much does it cost?
Please see enclosed price list. All major credit cards are accepted.
Will tools be available to buy at the centre?
Yes. We stock a full range of top brand tools at big discounted prices. Delivery can also be arranged if necessary.
How do I book a course?
You can book over the telephone, by e-mail
or fax. A small deposit is payable to secure your booking.
What about staying somewhere during my course?
We have made arrangements with several local accommodation providers and can arrange for you to stay at discounted prices.
Is there a demand for tilers once I complete the course?
Yes. The Tile Association reports a shortage of at least 16,000+ tilers in the UK.
Do you offer anything after the course?
Yes. We regularly offer advice and support to past students. In fact, many return to us to do further training. See Unique to Alpine.
